The Gallant Men TV Series

The ABC's 1963-1964 action war television series The Gallant, depicting the life and battle engagement of a front-line American infantry company in the World War II, showing tactics and heroism in a kind of gritty realism.

The group led by young determined Captain Jim Benedict, the infantry company was set in Salermo, Italy during Italian Campaign in World War II year 1943 where the American squad soldiers engaged in suicide missions, desperately seeking to end war and return home. The Gallant men includes the well-sworn stereotype, handsome ladies' man and guitar playing Private First Class Pete D'Angelo, inseperable buddies hard as nails Pvt. Ernie Lucavich and Pvt. Sam Hanson, free-swinging hard-as-nails 1st Sergeant John McKenna and the callow young driver Pvt. Roger Gibson under the command of Capt. Benedict and Lt. Frank Kimbro, they easily and frequently dispatched large numbers of German Troops while incredibly experiencing minimal or no injuries themselves. All their battle actions were seen through the eyes of a foreign war correspondent Conley Wright who assigned in the 36th infantry of American Fifth Army.
